How to play Eatlas
Every day Eatlas picks one food or drink and asks a simple question: which country has the most of it per person? Coffee, potatoes, chocolate, beer, rice, octopus... and more.
Guess countries
Type any country. It lights up on the globe in a colour that shows how close it is to the top of the list: cold blue near the bottom, yellow in the middle, burning red near the top. The list under the globe shows each guess with its rank and its amount per person.
Find number one
Guesses are unlimited, so you always get there. The game ends when you find the #1 country, which turns gold. Fewer guesses is better. If you are stuck after six guesses, you can ask which continent the #1 country is on.
Region rounds. On weekends the question is about one region: Europe, Asia, Africa or the Americas. The label above the question says so, only countries in that region count, and the rest of the globe is faded. The hint then gives the first letter of the #1 country instead of its continent.
Then the whole map
When you win, the whole world fills in from coldest to hottest, so you can see the pattern at a glance: the coffee belt of the north, the rice belt of South and Southeast Asia, the potato countries of Eastern Europe.
Share without spoilers
The share button copies one coloured square per guess, from blue for far away to red for close and a trophy for the hit, so friends can compare without seeing the answer.
Tips
- Start with a big country in each region and let the colours tell you where it is getting warmer.
- Think about climate and history: olive oil around the Mediterranean, rice where monsoons fall, dates in the desert.
- Per person matters. A small country with a big habit can beat a giant.
